Deceased Name: Ballantine, Richard James
Ballantine, Richard James 71 7/15/1938 11/9/2009 Richard James Ballantine passed on to Heaven Nov. 9, 2009, at the age of 71, due to medical complications related to diabetes.
Richard was born to Clifford and LaVerne Ballantine, July 15, 1938, in Fordville, N.D. The family relocated to Washington in 1943, later moving to Oregon in 1954. Richard graduated from Gresham High School in 1956.
He then married Janice Frederick, with whom he had three children, Rick, Terri and Julie. Richard was self-employed for many years, first owning a restaurant in Toledo, "The Table" restaurant and lounge in Portland and later the "Timbers" and "The Players" located in Bend and Redmond. Richard was a person that everyone gravitated towards. His kind soul and generous heart were known to many. His greatest joy in life was his family and friends. He was the happiest when surrounded by all.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother; father; brother, Joe; son, Rick; and two stepdaughters, Molly and Michelle.
Richard is survived by his wife, Vallerie; son, Andrew; two daughters, Julie Wlodarczyk and Terri Ballantine; and five remaining siblings.
Richard was blessed with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Please join Richard's family at the funeral at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral will be followed by a celebration of Richard's life in the Gresham Elks Lodge. Remembrances to the Diabetic Association of Oregon.
