Cotton Aberle Dies, Funeral Service Tues.
Funeral service for Otto "Cotton" Aberle, 79, long-time resident of Lance Creek, was held Tuesday at the Peet Chapel in Lusk at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Aberle died October 14 at Cody where he has been living since July of this year.
The Rev. Fred Bolinger conducted the service with Mrs. A.F. DeCastro, organist. Russell Olmsted, soloist sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Weiten Dupes Post #4 conducted graveside services.
Honorary pallbearers were Al Lagerberg, Jim Russell, Joe Traphagan, Sven Johnson, Jim Groves and Bob Sides.
Casket bearers were Ernie Lindahl, D.B. Cox, Andy Nielson, Jesse York, Walter Kant and Clem Mosier.
Otto Frank "Cotton" Aberle was born October 22, 1892, at Faywell, Ill. He was raised in St. Louis and served during World War I in the Navy Air Force. After his discharge he moved to Wyoming to begin the oil field work that took him from Mule Creek to Lance Creek, then the Big Muddy Field and back to Lance Creek.
Mr. Aberle was married on August 11. 1921, to Lucille Mary Hurley at Lusk. He retired from the Marathon Oil Co. in 1957 after 38 years but continued to live in Lance Creek until July when he and Mrs. Aberle moved to Cody.
Mr. Aberle was a member of the Elks Lodge for more then 50 years and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, and son Johnnie of Cody, two granddaughters Beverly Everman and Bonnie Jo Aberle and four great-grandchildren. His parents, a brother and a daughter, Frances died previously.
