BELVIDERE - David Lloyd Chappell, 89, died March 29, 2010. Born in Perquimans County, he was the son of the late John O. and Cornelia Minerva C. Chappell. He was the retired owner/ agent of Chappell Insurance Agency and a member of Christ Sanctified Holy Church. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a survivor of the USS Hamilton. He was a Bronze Star recipient. A wonderful loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Eula White Willey-Chappell; a daughter, Sandra Kay White; six sons, Carl Roger Chappell, Phil Ward Chappell, David L. Chappell Jr., John Vernon Chappell, Joseph Mark Chappell and Ernie Lee Chappell; four stepdaughters, Gail Robinson, Janet Noone, Nanette Coon and Lorna Ellis; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sarah Elizabeth Ward Chappell; a sister, Sybil Jane Adams; and a brother, Hubert Atwood Chappell. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services of Hertford and at other times his home. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Chappell Family Cemetery, 1102 County Line Road, Belvidere.
