NOTE!!! This marker, a large, shiny black stone with room for another name, was recently dropped off at the cemetery with this note attached: "FOUND NEAR HERE. HOPE THIS IS HOME."

I found a Washington death record for M.H. Eiseman, born about 1912; died 19 Dec 1985 in Bellevue, Washington. A Social Security record has a Helen Eiseman, born 13 Sep 1912; died Dec 1985 in Bellevue, King, Washington. She got her SS card in Georgia.

A Public Record shows her as living in Yarrow Point, Washington in 1982.

I have contacted a local newspaper to do a story. What I find out, I will post here. Alice V. Nelson

Additional information: I contacted Sunset Memorial Park in Bellevue, as she is also listed as buried there by way of www.findagrave.com. The gentleman I spoke to at Sunset was not willing to give any information other than it was a family matter and that M. Helen Eiseman was "no longer there."
She is listed on www.findagrave.com, and I have contacted the person who listed her originally to let her know of this situation.
I found the number of the sexton for Longbranch Cemetery and she said that M. Helen Eiseman was NOT listed as being buried there. She seemed very perplexed as to what to do. The cemetery is tiny and run totally by volunteers, many of whom are getting way up in years. In fact, the cemetery has a rule: that the only people who can be buried there must have lived in Longbranch. Or their Longbranch ancestors already bought a plot, which is paid for, and they are entitled to being buried there.
So the mystery continues. Her headstone was "found," placed there by someone, and yet she does not belong in this cemetery.

The sage is nearly complete: UPDATE MAY 2011.
The sexton of the Longbranch Cemetery somehow convinced the bigwigs at Sunset in Bellevue to contact the family member that had M. Helen removed in 2010. That person, a woman, called the Longbranch Sexton and told her that someone had picked up the headstone, off of property located on the Key Peninsula. She said she would stop by and fetch the headstone.

There are still questions remaining for me: Why would a stranger - a passerby - be on private property and take a headstone? And there are other questions.
But I am leaving this now, but keeping her on this site, after conferring with another www.findagrave.com member, who had posted M. Helen Eiseman in Sunset Memorial. She is also going to leave her memorial at that site, as well.

RIP, M. Helen Eiseman!
If anyone reads this and knows what to do, please feel free to contact me and I will see if I can help.

Update: I have contacted, again, Sunset Memorial Park, by e-mail, asking that they please contact the family of M. Helen Eiseman and let them know that the headstone was "found" inside the cemetery gate. I will post their response, if there is one, here.

I also contacted the Seattle Public Library, hoping they could find an obituary, which might list survivors. They are checking, but did give me this information in the meantime:
Helen Eiseman was born on Friday, September 13, 1912. She died Dec. 1985 at the approximate age of 73 years, 3 months. Her last known residence was in Bellevue; Beaux Arts; Beaux Arts Village; Clyde Hill; Hunts Point; Yarrow Point. Her Social Security Card was issued in Georgia.

UPDATE FINAL:
Seattle Public Library found her obituary:
M. Helen Eiseman
Mass of Christian Burial for M. Helen Eiseman, 73, of Bellevue, will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bellevue. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Green's Bellevue Funeral Home and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church. She died Thursday at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue.
Mrs. Eiseman was born on Sept. 13, 1912 in Atlanta, Ga. She was a homemaker and was active in the Overlake Service League. As a resident of this area since 1970, she previously lived in Darien, Conn.
Survivors include her husband, Willard A.; sons, Andrew of Englewood, Colo., Patrick H. of Renton and Stephen of Boston, Mass.; daughters, Margaret Abarr of Clearfield, Iowa, Jane Eiseman of Seattle, Pamela Eiseman of Norwalk, Conn.; sister, Julia Goza of Orlando, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials may be made in Mrs. Eiseman's name to the American Cancer Society.

Apparently a family member contacted Long Branch Cemetery's sexton. This person had been contacted by the cemetery in Bellevue. She said she would be by on Memorial Day weekend to pick up the headstone. There was no explanation as to why it turned up in the cemetery.

In any event, M. Helen, I went the distance on this one and I'd like to leave your memorial page up.M. Helen Eiseman is no longer buried in Sunset Hills (Bellevue). She was moved by a family member in 2010. Her headstone turned up in a tiny cemetery on the Key Peninsula.

It turns out that M. Helen was moved to a remote spot near the Long Branch Cemetery on someone's personal property (she was cremated, by the way). Why someone else took the headstone and placed it in the tiny cemetery remains a mystery.

She is now reburied - her ashes - somewhere on the Key Peninsul

Her maiden name was Huff. She had several children. She got her SS card in Georgia. Her husband died in 2008, I believe, and a son died in 2009. Which could account for why she was moved after 27.5 years at Bellevue.

Her memorial is also listed in the Longbranch Cemetery.

many thanks to FAG member Alice Nelson for all her hard work in getting to the bottom of this mystery!!
