Arliss Lyle Adams, age 77 of Kincaid, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas.

Arliss was born on April 5, 1934, in Kincaid, Kansas, the son of John Q. and Ada M. (Rogers) Adams.

He attended Belleview Grade School, and graduated from Kincaid High School in 1952.

On June 7, 1953 Arliss was united in marriage to Bonnie Goodall at Kincaid, Kansas.

This union was blessed with four children.

Following high school Arliss began his lifelong career of farming. He started out farming with his father and brother, J.Q. He later farmed with his son, Kendall.

Arliss was a member of the Kincaid Selma United Methodist Church. He had also been a member of the Kincaid Lions Club; he served on the board of the Kincaid Fair Association. Arliss was also an original stockholder in the Kincaid Farmers, Fertilizer and Grain.

He enjoyed watching Kansas City Chiefs football and KU Basketball, but all of the games his children and grandchildren played in were his favorite. He took special joy in watching his great-grandson Kyle play basketball. Arliss also liked to play cards and take extra special care of his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, J.Q. Adams; and three sisters, Enola Coleman, Helen Lally, and Pauline Adams.

Arliss is survived by his wife, Bonnie Adams, of the home; two sons, Kendall Adams and wife Denise of Kincaid, KS; Jeff Adams of Wichita, KS; two daughters, Renda Hammond and husband Mike of Kincaid, KS; Cindy Rhodes and husband Dennis of Kincaid, KS; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Kincaid Selma United Methodist Church in Kincaid, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Lone Elm Cemetery in Lone Elm, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kincaid Fair Association or the American Heart Association.
