Last Will and Testament of Alexander Hayes

"I Alexander Hayes of the County of Clinton and State of Kentucky, do hearby make my last Will and Testament in honor and form following, that is to say, first I desire that all the perishable part of my estate be immediately sold after my decese and out of the money arising tharefrom all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid. Should the perishable part of my estate prove insufficient for the above proposed item I desire that much of my real estate that, be sold and out of the money arising Therefrom pay and satisfy such of my just debts as Shal remain unpaid out of the sales of the perishable part of my estate. 2nd And after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses, I give to my wife Elizabeth the tract of land where I now live, Containing two hundred acres with the appurtenance Thereon and Thereto belonging, and all the household furniture, all my negroes to wit: Zilpha, Patsey, Sarah, William, Ambros and Rice, with all their increase if there should be any during my wife Elizabeth's natural life. 3rd And after her decease I give to my son Thomas Hayes the tract of land I now live on. 4th also I give to my son Lewis the tract of land that my son Lewis now lives on. I give to my son Thomas a negro boy cald Rice. Thomas must pay to the estate six hundred dollars in cattle, hogs, horses, or any good trade. 5th I give to my son Lewis a negro boy called William. 6th I give to my son James Hayes three hundred and nineteen dollars which he has allready received. I also give to my son James Hayes children three hundred dollars to be divided equally between them. 7th Give to my daughter Nancy Wright a negro boy cald Ambros. 9th I desire that after my decease that all of the remainder of my negroes and all my perishable property be sold and out of the money arising therefrom to be divided equaly between my Daughter Mahaley Carson and my daughter Matilda Smith and my daughter Malinda Sanduskey and my daughter Sarah Westrope and my daughter Emaline Beaty. and lasley I do hereby constitute and appoint my friends Amos Moppin & Lafayette Moppin Executors of this my last Will and Testament, hearby revoking all others or former Wills or Testaments by me heartofore made, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixd my Seal, this the 11th Nov. 1863."
