Devalcus Davis Jack was born on the family homestead at Butte Creek near Mount Angel and Silverton, Oregon. He built his house in Pleasant Home around 1880 near the Pleasant Home Methodist Church. He and his wife Elizabeth Jane Hall Jack had four children: *Eli Earl Jack, Cecil Clinton Jack, Orvetta Jack, and Ira Jack.
