The 2nd of two entrance columns (right side). Cemetery has not been maintained very well, and needs to be cleaned up. The large stones are okay but the headstones/footstones are covered with leaves and vines. I was not well received, as the Hairston Family Center is in fact a house that people live very close to the cemetery. After much explanation they did allow me into the cemetery, but many of them are grown over with fresh vines. I told them if I came back it would not be before "cold" weather, when the likelihood of snakes, etc. has diminished. But someone does need to clean up a bit if possible.

One of two entrances to the Philpott-Vaughn-Morris Cemetery. Cemetery has not been maintained very well, and needs to be cleaned up. The large stones are okay but the headstones/footstones are covered with leaves and vines. I was not well received, as the Hairston Family Center is in fact a house that people live very close to the cemetery. After much explanation they did allow me into the cemetery, but many of them are grown over with fresh vines. I told them if I came back it would not be before "cold" weather, when the likelihood of snakes, etc. has diminished. But someone does need to clean up a bit if possible.
