Alva was born to Charles and Laura Price (Givens) Heath on Sept. 5, 1909 in Southwest City, Mo. He passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2001 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital. He was 92.

Alva married Violet Myrtle Lakey. With their union came five daughters. Working as an operating engineer for 20 years, Alva always worked hard. He also worked for the mosquito control, and later retired from auto repair work as a mechanic. When Alva wasn't hard at work he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving Alva are his children, Loris Violet Finch, Sharon (Bryan) Meadows, Kay Cassels, and Mary (Don) Lingo all of Cortez, and his 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Violet Heath; and his daughter, Phyllis Jean Manness.

Services will be under the direction of the Ertel Funeral Home.Graveside services for Alva Ellis Heath a longtime resident of Cortez will be at 1 p.m., Saturday Nov. 10, at the Arriola Cemetery. Pastor Larry Chappell of the Lighthouse Baptist Church will officiate.
