SCOTTSBLUFF -- A memorial service for Edith "Virginia" Raines, 86, of 1413 Ave. F, Scottsbluff, who died at home Feb. 21, 1994, will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nancy K. Flader officiating. Cremation was performed at Sunset Memorial Park at Scottsbluff.
A memorial to the family has been established.
She was born Sept. 7, 1907, in Lincoln to E.B. and Bertha (Fletcher) Acker. She received her early education in Lincoln and moved to Bridgeport in 1923. She married Henry Raines on July 28, 1923. They lived in Bridgeport until 1949, when they moved to Scottsbluff.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Builders Sunday School class, church circles, Rebekah Lodge, Royal Neighbors Lodge, Jaycee Senior Band, Wide Awake Quilting Club, YMCA and Senior Swimming Club.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Lt. Col. H. Robert Raines and Donnie of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law Mildred and James Miller of Scottsbluff; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two sisters and a brother.
