Harry Leonard Welch, 78, of Buchanan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2011. Leonard was an avid guitarist and fiddler and the last band member of the Country Hicks. He retired from the cement plant in Botetourt County with 37 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruth C. Welch; daughters and sons-in-law, Lou Ann and Danny Reynolds, of Vinton, and Peggy and David Perdue, of Rocky Mount; son, Andy Welch, of Springwood; grandchildren, Brandi and Brandon Welch, Tara McSwain, and Adam Reynolds; greatgrandchildren, Kaylee, Madison, Jeslynn, and Presley; and sister, Nadine Aaron, of Buchanan. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011, in the Springwood Baptist Church (Copps Cemetery) with the Rev. David Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Those wishing to make a contribution, please consider the Springwood Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, June 15, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.
