He is survived by his former wife, Cora Eanes Abbott Bandy, two sons Paul Alvin Abbott of Bedford, VA and Steve Wayne Abbott of Roanoke, two daughters, Gloria Jean Abbott Yopp of Shawsville, VA and Brenda Gale Abbott of Roanoke, one brother David Abbott of Martinsville, two sisters Delcie Abbott Huffman and Rosie Abbott Reynolds, both of New Castle, VA, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a very, very special friend, Catherine Wiekle of Roanoke.
Funeral services were held at Boitnott Funeral Home Chapel of New Castle, with interment in Brickey Cemetery.
