Eugene C. Dettmering, 85, of Fayetteville, Georgia, died March 29, 2008. Mr. Dettmering was a World War II Veteran, serving with the Seabees 105th Naval Construction. He retired from Ryder Truck Lines. He was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church and also Fayetteville Masonic Lodge 711.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beth Dettmering and daughter, Patsy Dettmering Abercrombie. He is survived by his sons, Eugene and Denise Dettmering, Jr. of Newnan, and Matt and Jody Dettmering of Brooks; daughter, Pam and Mark Neal of Brooks; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack and Mary Dettmering of Fayetteville.

Funeral service held March 31 in the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Burial at Camp Memorial Park.
