SPRINGFIELD - Helen Marie Abel, 83, of Springfield, formerly of Athens, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Prentice, the daughter of John C. and Ethel Mae Lockett Abel.
Miss Abel was a member of Athens New Life Baptist Church.
Survivors: daughter, Linda Johnston of Springfield; five grandchildren; brother, Walter "Buddy" Abel of Athens; two sisters, Florence Abel of Springfield and Dorothy Beaty of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
