Newkirk Boy Killed Fighting in France

NEWKIRK, Okla., June 10 – Memorial exercises were held here for Otto G. Abbott, the first Newkirk boy killed in the war. He as the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Abbott of Newkirk, and he belonged to the snipers' platoon of the 26th United States army. He had been in the service five years. He had been wounded in France and had just been able to be out for duty when he received the wounds from which he died. He had three brothers who are all in national service and three sisters.
COMPANY A 26TH INFANTRY
This soldier was originally buried in France, but was returned to the U.S. and buried here in April of 1921.
