Eathan Allan Abshire was one of nine children born to David W Abshire and Susannah Palmer. He lived his entire life in Fremont County, Iowa.

Eathan married May Belle Pierson, daughter of James Pierson and Ava McBee, in 1890. Eathan and May Belle had six children: Millard, Manning, Murillo and Merrill. A son and daughter died in infancy.

Following an extended illness, Eathan died at his home in Sidney at the age of 53 years 9 months. May Belle lived to the age of 94 years.
