Mr. James McCall died at his home,two miles below Salvisa, having never rallied from the stoke of paralysis which he
suffered last Tuesday.Mr. McCall was born in Washington County, Virginia, in 1828, and when but one year old his father moved to Anderson County and purchased the handsome farm on which he lived until his death. He was a practical and scientific farmer, and had accumulated a large estate, which he leaves to his daughters, Mrs. H.V. Bell and Mrs. J. W. Abbott, with whom he resided at the time of his death.

JAMES McCALL, son of Thomas and Jane (Hutton) McCall, was born in Washington County, Va., August 10, 1828, and came to Kentucky with his parents the same year. His father settled upon Gilbert Creek, on the Louisville & Crab Orchard Turnpike, where James McCall now resides. His father, Thomas McCall, died in 1844; his mother, Mrs. Jane McCall, is living; she will be eighty-six in November, 1887. Mr. James McCall married, in 1858, Miss Mary H. Smith, daughter of James Smith, of Anderson County. Mrs. Mary H. McCall died in 1863, leaving two children: Bettie J. (Mrs. H. V. Bell) and Martha B. (Mrs. J. W. Abbott). Mr. McCall is the owner of 148 acres, and is engaged in managing his mother's farm of 300 acres in connection with his own.
