Bernadette C. (Mackenrodt) O'Brien of Bedford, formerly of South Boston, died on July 23, 2011, following a lengthy illness.

She was born and raised in South Boston and attended Boston public schools. Prior to her retirement, she was a sales clerk in the food industry.

Mrs. O'Brien had lived in Bedford for the past 21 years and was a member of St. Michael parish.

She was the beloved wife of the Henry M. O'Brien who died in 1985 and was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Marie Card and her husband, Clarence of Bedford, one brother, Robert Mackenrod of Braintree, a devoted grandmother to Dawn Baloy and husband, Eric of Chelmsford and Tracy Card of Bedford and great grandmother of Brianna Baloy and Tyler Joseph Card. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., Bedford, Wed. at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tues. from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Boston.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
