Born October 18, 1918, at home in Scotland County in Memphis, MO, she was the daughter of James and Kitty Belle Couch. On August 1, 1937, she married Ivan William Acton in Memphis, MO. He died May 18, 1973.
Eva worked three years at Wells & Lamont Glove Factory in Edina, MO. Eva and her family then moved to Burlington where she worked for 16 years at Sylvania and 18 years at Hope Haven. She retired in July of 1988.
She was a member of Burlington Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing cards, camping, watching wrestling, and especially family gatherings.
Survivors include three granddaughters, Joi (Jay) Harris of West Burlington, June (Paul) Sonnier of Huntsville, TX, and Tara Eaton of Burlington, IA; two grandsons, Russell Acton of New Jersey, and Bill (Mandi) Stutsman of Okinawa, Japan; three great-grandchildren, Justin Harris, Joel Harris, and Jordan Harris; one sister, Georgia Couch of Memphis, MO; her good companion, Willie Jarrett of Burlington; one daughter-in-law, Rhonda Acton of Wever; several nieces and nephews; and her two chihuahua's Trixie and Suzie.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Russell Lowell Acton, Sr., two sisters, and her companion, James R. Garrison.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Acton will be 10:00 AM Friday, August 19, 2011, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Burlington Church of Christ following the service. Interment will be in Memphis Cemetery in Memphis, MO at 2:00 PM.
