Stephen Jacob Wiley was born, at that time, in what was the upper part of Coahilla, His Father was born, 1797, Mecklenburg county, NC, then onto SC, and then to Georgia, returning then to Tennessee, where he met a Nancy Fulcher,going then to Louisana, where they are married by a Spanish Priest on 6 may 1822. Steven is the third child born to this union. In what was then called the Edwards Colony, it covered the area that is now Walker county, TX, and other counties now. After some trouble with Mexico, around 1828, to better protect its colonist the Hayden & Edwards Colonies combined. But up until 1836 all Texas was either under Spanish rule or Mexican rule, the French had already left. There are all kinds of birth, marriage and land records at Monterrey, Mexico, for Texas before it was Independent. But to assure you, he was born in what was Mexico, plus one brother and two sisters.
