Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Highland Cemetery for Billye Frances Abbott, 83, Durant, who died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at her residence. Reverend Greg Tolle will officiate.

She was born Sunday, February 1, 1925, in Sherman, Texas, to Will and Allye Frances (Holland) Abbott. She graduated from Christian College in Columbus, Missouri with a degree in journalism. She earned a Master of Education from the University of Oklahoma. She was a librarian at Southeastern Oklahoma State University for seven years, was a school teacher in Oklahoma City, member of the First United Methodist Church in Durant, was very active in the Humane Society and Cancer Society. She loved to work with children, teaching them to read.

She passed away at her family home peacefully with her family and extended family surrounding her. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Scott Nelson Wallace. She is survived by sister Patte Abbott Wallace, Norman; niece Alison Wallace Ray and husband Mark, Norman; nephew William Patrick Wallace, Oklahoma City; great-nephews Jared William Bradshaw and wife JoBeth, Newport News, Virginia, James Robert Brown and wife Jenna, Houston, Texas; and great-great-nephew Arthur Fagen Brown, Houston. Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Wallace, Jared William Bradshaw, Randy Gray, James Robert Brown and Mark Ray. Family hour will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Coffey-Murray Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
