He was born at home in Greaney on February 27, 1928, delivered by his grandmother, who was a midwife who also delivered numerous babies in the Greaney area. Lloyd was a lifelong resident of the Greaney area, and a Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Ellen LaMere on October 22, 1955 in Wyoming, MN. They were dedicated mail carriers in the Greaney-Rauch-Silverdale and Gheen areas for 44 years. He also worked for Pittsburg-Pacific's Julia mine in Virginia for 19 years, as a welder, mechanic and foreman. Earlier he had logged with Vince Shutte, Joe Udovich and a few others in the area. Lloyd was a member of the Cook Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1757, the American Legion Post #605 of Greaney- then the Orr American Legion Post #480 upon its merger. Lloyd liked fishing, deer and duck hunting, and his family fondly recalls his love of collecting junk. He had a talent for music and enjoyed playing his mandolin, and on occasion played guitar and fiddle. He learned early on to fix, repair, or adapt to make any project or piece of equipment work. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his former wife, Mary Ellen Ableman on January 20, 1997; and 4 brothers, Walter, Delbert, Art and Doug Ableman.
Interment will be later in the Silverdale Cemetery.
