Hurstle Clarence "Weese" Abbott, 68, of 450 Boone Trail died Friday at his home after a long illness.
He was a former member of the Danville-Boyle County Planning and Zoning Commission, having served 19 years on the panel. He was a retired farmer and a licensed pilot, having been a partner in the management of both the Danville-Boyle County Airport and the Danville Aerial Spray Co.
Born Aug. 7, 1922, in Boyle bounty, he was a son of the late Floyd and Minnie Gwinn Abbott, He was the widower of Ethel Givens May Abbott. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and a member of First Christian Church, Junction City.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda A. Rose of. Winter Haven, Fla.; a son, James F. Abbott of Danville; two brothers, Clyde G. Abbott of Lancaster and Floyd Abbott Jr. of Danville; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home, Danville, by the Rev. Dr. Norman Hagley and the Rev. Scott VanDyke. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Heritage Hospice.
