Melvin Elam Abbott, III - FAULKVILLE - Melvin Elam Abbott, III, 61, died December 13, 2007 at Candler Hospital. The Louisville, KY native was a retired Corrections Officer with Coastal State Prison and was an U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran, where he served in the amphibious forces and greyhounds. He was a member of the Brotherhood of the Order of the Arrow and was active as a youngster in the Boy Scouts. Survivors: wife, Lelia Ira Abbott of Faulkville; children, Donnie Christopher Abbott (Melissa), Erica Lynn Landa (Roberto), and Kate Williams (Michael); five grandchildren, Donnie Christopher Abbott, Jr., Dominick Landa-Abbott, Maria Claire Landa-Abbott, Jessica Fox, and Jonathan Williams. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, December 16 at the funeral home. Graveside Service: 11 a.m. Monday, December 17 at Effingham Memorial Gardens. Remembrances: Veteran's Park of Effingham, P.O.
