Cecil Abernathy (Buddy) age 70, died Wednesday May 31, 2000 at his residence.
Visitation will be Friday June 2 from 6-9 pm at Elkins east funeral home, Center Star.
The funeral service will be Saturday June 3 2000 at 11 a.m. at Elkins East chapel Center Star.
Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
He was employed as a crane operator for Union Carbide before retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Lee Height Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Arvella Abernathy, in 1969.
Surviving him are his wife Myrtleen Abernathy, Killen, daughters; Betty Smith, Peggy Peck, and stepdaughter Shirley Phillips, Center Star, sons Billy Abernathy, Killen and Donnie of Greenhill and Sonny of Center Hill, stepsons Jimmy Herston, Leighton, Jerry Herston, Florence, Ricky Herston, Tuscumbia, sister Eunice Smith Killen, several grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Lawrence, Bobby Peck, Jackie Peck, jimmy Herston, Ricky Herston and Robby Herston.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Kenny and Chris Abernathy.
