Wayne Alan Aarstad, 58, of rural Hiawatha, Kansas passed away at his parents home on Saturday, November 5, 2011. He was born on May 29, 1953 in Hiawatha, Kansas the son of Lars and Lozene Massey Aarstad. Wayne grew up in Brown County and graduated from Horton High School in 1971. Wayne lived and worked most of his life in St. Joseph, Missouri at Wire Rope for 33 years and later at Sara Lee in St. Joseph. He moved back to live with his parents until his death. He married Peggy Winchell in Horton, Kansas they later were divorced. He then married Glenda Johnson on November 17, 1984 in St. Joseph, Missouri. They also were later divorced. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Everest, Kansas. He enjoyed Bowling, Snow Skiing and Golfing. His is survived by his parents, Lars and Lozene Aarstad of Hiawatha, Kansas; daughter, Mindy (Brandon) Erickson of St. Joseph, Missouri; two sons, Matthew (McKenzie) Aarstad of Lynwood, Washington and Justin (Jordan McCall) Aarstad of St. Joseph, Missouri; brother Mike (Dixie) Aarstad of Andover, Kansas; one grandson, Oliver Aarstad, two grandchildren on the way and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Aarstad and niece Krystal Aarstad. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Everest, Kansas. Memorials may be sent to the Wayne Aarstad memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
