Harold E. Achenbach, 84, formerly of Central City, died Saturday, September 30, 1995, in Mechanicsville Care Center, Mechanicsville, after a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Hoyt of United Methodist Church, Central City. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, and after noon Tuesday at the chapel.
Survivors include a son, Stanley of Mobile, Alabama; two daughters, Virginia Cooper of Mesa, Arizona and Bonnie Jayne of Olin; and a sister, Mina Huston of Long Grove.
Also surviving ar 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Achenbach of Hiawatha.
He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur, two brothers and a sister.
Harold was born November 24, 1910, in Dysart, the son of Emanuel and Delilah Zerbee Achenbach. He married Opal V. McGuire on January 18, 1934, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1990. Harold worked at Barnard and Leas Manufacturing Co. and retired from there after many years of service. He was a member of United Methodist Church, Central City, and Central City Kiwanis Club.
