Funeral services were Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Church of Christ with Max Kelley officiating. Burial was in the Highmore Cemetery.
Vera was born on November 14, 1918 to Earl and Ada (Roth) Tripp at Akron, Iowa. She attended school in Dunlap, Iowa.
On May 1, 1936, she married William Sterrett at the Methodist Church in Mitchell. The couple lived and farmed in Wessington Springs and Letcher area for 25 years and later moved to Kimball. She worked at the Livestock Café for nine years. In 1954, she began to manage the Miller and Highmore Livestock Cafes. In later years, she worked at the bowling alley.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, Royal Neighbor of America and the Hyde County Senior Center. She loved music and enjoyed making trips to Huron to play bingo. Vera loved being around family and friends.
Vera is survived by three sons: Roger (Danna) Sterrett of Hartford, SD, Ronald (Bobbie) Sterrett of Huron, SD, and Richard (Jennie) Sterrett of Oregon, and one daughter, Connie Cramer of Huron, SD; one son-in-law, Jay Stoner of Oregon; 22 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Sterrett; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; two daughters: Verna Spiers and Sandy Stoner; one son-in-law; eight sisters; two brothers; two great grandsons; and two great granddaughters.
