Myrtle H. Abernathy, 83, of 546 Center Road, Cartersville, died Saturday, January 10, 1998.
She was born April 22, 1914 in Bartow County, a daughter of the late Martin Howell and Eva Knight Howell, was a member of the Center Baptist Church and retired from Union Carbide.
Survivors include her husband, Nat D. Abernathy; son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Daisy Howell of Columbia, South Carolina; a daughter, Barbara Abernathy of Cartersville, a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Diane Abernathy of Cartersville, Deborah, of Cartersville and the late Joey Herndon, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers, Herman Howell and Harold Howell, both of Cartersville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, from the Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Jody Orton and the Rev. Sammy Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews Randolph, Charles and Donald Howell, Dick and Lloyd Shinall and Martin Brooks.
