Adeline Eleanor Achtenberg was born to Jacob and Emelia (Reddinger) Achtenberg on January 31, 1929, at New Leipzig, ND. She grew up on a farm north of New Leipzig and attended a country school until the eighth grade. She stayed on the farm helping her parents and then went to neighbors around the area and worked as their hired girl, they would call it that in those days. She kept doing that work until she met her husband-to-be, Samuel Lingert. They were married December 26, 1947. During her lifetime, she was a farmer's wife until 1969, then she moved to New Leipzig where she worked at the New Leip-zig Café as a cook for a few years. She also did baking and catering for years around the community.

In the 1970s, she moved to Bismarck where she was a part-time bus lady and took care of disabled chil-dren in her home. Then an offer came along where she could be a baker at a motel known as the Ramkota in Bismarck. She was there for 10 years. In 1990, Adeline moved to Elgin and lived at the West Acre Apartments until 2000. When medical problems came up, she went to Dakota Hill Housing and made her home there until January 22, 2007, when she was transferred to Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Cen-ter, where she died on Monday, January 29, 2007.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Doris (Kenny) Friedt, Elgin, ND; Dinah (Curlie) White, Modesto, CA; three sons, Dennis (Mary) Lingert, Lincoln, ND; Douglas Lingert, Bis-marck, ND; Dale (Kim) Lingert, Riverton, WY.

Adeline was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Brent (Jodi) Friedt Fargo, ND; Allan (Trish) Friedt, Moor-head, MN; Marie Friedt, Fargo, ND; Travis Friedt, Portland, OR; Christopher White, Modesto, CA; Adam, Katherine, Jessica, Ryan and Daniel Lingert, all of Bismarck, ND; Amanda (Jay) Lund Lincoln, ND; and Kelly Brown, Riverton, WY; and five great-grandchildren, Timothy, Allyson, Tymera, Sierra and Kane.

She is survived by three brothers, Ernie (Marianne), Christ (Erma) Achtenberg, all of New Leipzig; Virgil (Eunice) Achtenberg, Hysham, MT, and also two sisters, Darlene (Chuck) Kuntz, Yakima, WA; and Alice Johnson, Dacono, CO; two sisters-in-law, Sue Achtengberg, Kennewick, WA; Bernice Achten-berg, Bismarck, ND; and one brother-in-law, Arnold Kirsch, Mott, ND; and numerous nieces and neph-ews.
