Survivors include his parents, Charles and Barbara Abernathy; one brother, Brandon Abernathy; two sisters, Monica and Sharon Abernathy, all of Carlsbad; grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. Irby Abernathy, Carlsbad, Jesus Vallejo, Carlsbad, Irene Carrasco, Artesia; great-grandparents, Ruth Abernathy and Pablo Vallejo, both of Carlsbad, Bernice Greenway, Flint, Mich.

Pallbearers are to be Jeremy Abernathy, Philip Abernathy, Joe Abernathy, Femie Carillo, Sammy Sanchez, and Pancho Vallejo.
