Inez Faye Absher, 48, of 1064 Riverside Avenue, died at 11 pm Monday at Holston Valley Community Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born and spent her early life in Hawkins County, but had been living in Kingsport for a number of years. She was a former employee of Holston Defense Corp., and she was a member of the Long Island Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors are her husband, Richard Absher of Kingsport; five children, Emmett, Ronnie, Matthew Absher and Avanelle Faye and David Dale Ratliff; and her mother, Sylvia Lawson, all of Kingsport; two sisters, Avanelle Tate of Baltimore, MD, Geraldine Drinnon of Kingsport; one brother, Willard Lawson of CA; three half brothers, Malcom Drinnon of Rogersville, Oscar Lawson of Sneedville, Carson Lawson of Church Hill; two half sisters, Flossie Crawford of Kingsport, Victoria Price of Sneedville.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 pm Thursday at the Long Island Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. G.C. Clark and Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Morrison Chapel Cemetery in Morrison City.

The body will be taken to the home of the sister, Mrs. Geraldine Drinnon, 1629 Leaside Drive, at 11:00 am today and will remain there until time for services. Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home is in charge.
