In 1917, he married Florence Etta (Kelley), daughter of Wesley Burley & Daisey Belle (Moon) Kelley. They lived on Elm Creek, south and east of Stephan, SD. They were parents of seven children; Charlotte (Mrs. Dale Roalstad), John, Katherine (Mrs. William Ortmeier), Kenneth, George, Joseph (who died at 4 months), and Marllys (Mrs. Royal Cermak).
John died in 1932.
