Growing up he played Little League at the Oaks Dad's Club in Oak Forest, he was a Boy Scout, a counselor at the Easter Seals Camp for Crippled Children and he loved horses. He rode the Salt Grass Trail Ride with his family for several years.
He graduated from Waltrip High School in 1971. He worked for Stelzig's Western Wear, then began a career at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. following in his Dad's footsteps.
He soon decided to go into the janitorial service business. He loved life and always said he had a "Champagne lifestyle on a beer budget."
He died on August 5, 1991 in Houston, TX. He was survived by his parents, four sisters, one niece and three nephews.
A Memorial Service was held at Bering Memorial UMC Houston, TX, He was cremated.
Fred lived to be 38 years, 5 months and 27 days old.
