Wife of Charles Oliver Perry Smith and Edward Doctor Franklin. Daughter of James Gifford and Nancy Antle. Charles died in 1891 and I don't know where he's buried. On the 1870 census Melissa was living back with her parents and her two children Susan and Luisa and she was listed as Melissa Gifford. I guess she was divorced at that time. They were living in the Ireland area of Taylor County. She married Charles on Apr 20, 1858. She was married to Edward by the 1880 census.

Susan Caroline Smith, Feb 14, 1859 to May 6, 1952.
Luisa Smith born 1861, doesn't show up on the 1880 census with her mother and new husband Edward.
