This is my Cousin on my Mother's side.
PIONEER - Hillard W. Smith Jr., 65, of Pioneer and a former Montpelier area resident, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, Dec. 3, 2001, at Community Hospital of Williams County, Montpelier, after being stricken in his home with an apparent heart attack.
Born July 1, 1936, at Toledo, to Viola (Hall) and Hillard W. Smith, Sr., he married Lyn Bechtol and she survives.
A 1954 graduate of Macomber High School, Toledo, he had been an area resident the past 22 years. A carpenter and electrician in the construction field, he retired in 1998. He was a former co-developer, owner and operator of Lazy River Campground near Pioneer.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Kim) Jackson of Sylvania, Mrs. Kevin (Joette) Siebenaler of Pioneer and Jaclyn Smith at home; three stepchildren, Martha Luke of Fayette, Brian (and wife, Mandy) Luke of Edgerton and Dareth Luke of Pioneer; a grandson, Conrad Siebenaler of Pioneer; seven stepgrandchildren; his mother, Viola Smith of Toledo; a brother, Larry (Jayne) Smith of Perrysburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Joyce) Salway of Fremont, Ind., and Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Pickle of Clinton.
Private family services will be held. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.
