Born in Jones, Louisiana on May 20, 1928 .....OAK GROVE, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Laverne Massey Townsend, age 83, will be held at 10AM on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove, Louisiana.

Reverend Arron McGuffee will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in the Macedonia Community northwest of Oak Grove.

Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.

Mrs. Townsend passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at West Carroll Care Center in Oak Grove.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Townsend; and her parents, Samuel Leroy Massey and Annie Bell Murphy Massey.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Candace Castillo and John Pickens of Petersburg, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Jerry Kavalir of Oak Grove, Louisiana; granddaughter, Christen Castillo of New Orleans, Louisiana; grandson, Justin Kavalir of Rogers, Arkansas; granddaughter, Rebekah Gregory of Oak Grove; 3 great grandchildren, Adele Castillo, Emma Kavalir and Brody Gregory.

She is survived by her brother, Odell Massey of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; brother, Roy Massey of Bastrop, Louisiana; sister, Faye Waggoner of Rocky Branch, Louisiana; sister, Bonnie Sims of Bastrop; sister, Delores Aaron of Bastrop and sister, Paulette Whitehead of Mer Rouge, Louisiana.

Pallbearers are Mike Whitney, Jerod Whitney, Gary Townsend, Dennis Townsend, David Sims and Bill Massey.
