Gertrude M. (Abel) Luebrecht age 102 of Mexico formerly of St. Clement passed away Tuesday Feb. 7, at the Golden Living Center – Pin Oaks in Mexico.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday Feb. 11, at the St. Clement Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Peckman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Clement Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Luebrecht will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
She was born December 28, 1909 in Florrisant the daughter of Bernard F. and Mary Maud St. Cin Abel. In a double wedding ceremony where sisters married brothers, she married Aloysious S. Luebrecht at St. Clement on Oct. 3, 1928. He preceded her in death September 12, 1982.
Survivors include four daughters Ruth Gillum and husband Charles of Columbia, Frances McDannold of New Hartford, Dorothy Allen and husband Dick of New Hartford, Marilyn Taliaferro and husband Clay of Mexico; 11 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; and one sister Teresa Lanterman of Springfield, IL. She is preceded in death by 8 sisters, 3 brothers and brothers – in- law and sisters – in – law.
Mrs. Luebrecht moved from Florrisant to St. Clement as a child where she resided until moving to a nursing home at the age of 90. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She will be remembered for living her Catholic faith. She often appeared at the door of someone who was ill or had just lost a loved one with a jar of soup, cake or pie to bring them comfort. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, Ladies Sodality and the Sewing Circle. Mrs. Luebrecht was a very good gardener and especially enjoyed growing flowers at her home in St. Clement and often provided a fresh arrangement of flowers to display at the church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Keith, Rich Keith, Raymond Abel, Jim Allen, Mike McDannold and John Gillum.
Memorials may be made to the St. Clement School.
