Thomas Matthew Sellers, 1812-1854, was a farmer and husband of Melissa Pennington Sellers. Son of Drury & Demaris Sellers also living in Schuyler Co. Drury died 1 year before his son Thomas (in 1853). (His wife, Melissa Pennington Sellers, is buried in Walker Cem., McDonough Co, IL) with her Pennington family, she having survived Thomas 47 years.)

Thomas served in the Black Hawk War:
From enlistment at Rushville, IL, on the 25th day of April they commenced the march to the rendezvous at Beardstown, where they arrived and were attached to the 3d Regiment, commanded by Col. Abram B. De Witt, of the Brigade of Mounted Volunteers, then commanded by Brigadier-General Samuel Whiteside. The business of this Brigade was to precede the main body of the army.
