Mrs. Mary Jane Carver, 97, widow of J. E. Carver, Civil War Veteran who died in 1918, died June 5th at the home of her granddaughter, Lillian Marshall of Roanoke Rapids. Funeral services were conducted at Hope Mills, Cumberland County, and burial was in the Hope Mills Cemetery. Mrs. Carver had been ill a few days before her death.
She is survived by Mrs. Annie Walker, Orange County, Mrs. Alice Adams, Roanoke Rapids, Mrs. Cate Ray, Goldsboro, E. H. Carver, Concord, J. F. Carver, Partkton, W. H. Carver, Robinson County, Mrs. Julia Cashwell, Fayetteville, Mrs. Margaret Arnette, Rockingham, fifty grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, 30 great great grandchildren, and one great great great grandchild in Erwin.
