Leola C. Allen, 97, of Stapleton died Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Sutherland Care Center. She was born September 15, 1911 to Eugene and Mary (Harvey) Miller in McPherson County. She attended rural school in McPherson County and graduated from McPherson County High School in 1928. She was united in marriage to Floyd O. Allen, January 26, 1932, To this union six children were born: Wanda, Wilford (Bud), Bruce, Victor, Zola and Karen. Her priorities in life were her children and grandchildren and making sure everyone had enough good food to eat. She was an excellent cook and worked in several cafes and also at the Stapleton school for many years. She also wrote poems in her spare time. She was a past member of the Assembly of God Church in Stapleton.
Survivors include; one son Bruce (Sharon) Allen of Hershey; two daughters, Zola (Bill) Karn of Stapleton, Karen (Ike) Empfield of Stapleton; one daughter-in-law, Genie Allen Warner of Arnold; one son-in-law, Byron Daly of Stapleton; sixteen grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; twelve great, great grandchildren; two brothers Ray (Ruth) Allen of North Platte and Wilbur Allen of Stapleton; two sisters, Ada Allen of Sutherland, and Dorothy Grimes of Kearney; sister-in-law, Ethel Allen of Merced, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Lewis Allen; husband Floyd; three brothers, Eldon Allen, Lloyd Miller and Chet Allen; one sister Bernice Magnuson; one daughter, Wanda Daly; two sons, Wilford (Bud) Allen and Victor Allen; three brothers-in-laws, Maurice Grimes, Swede Magnuson and Melvin Miller; sisters-in-law, Halcyon Miller, Ethel Miller and Betty Allen.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Adams and Swanson Chapel with Reverend Melvin Brown officiating.
