Funeral services for Phillip F. Ackerman of Mexico, Missouri, a resident of Tama county for a number of years , were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Henderson Funeral Home. The Rev. F. C. Scott, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren church conducted the service . Music was furnished by Mrs. Charles Lewers and Mrs. George Wilson, accompanied by Mrs. J. E. Elston. Mrs. L. L. Cooper and Mrs. Clayton Flynn had charge of the flowers. Casket bearers were Clayton Ryan, L. L. Cooper. Glen Whalin, Charles Whalin, Clyde Otterman, and Fred Rogers. Interment was in Pleasant Valley cemetery.
Mr. Ackerman was the son of Peter and Marty Ackerman and was born in Saline county, Illinois on March 29, 1875. He died September 15, 1947 at Audrain county hospital at Mexico, Missouri after an illness of three weeks. He was married on March 14, 1906, to Mabel McCormick, who preceded him in death in 1939. They were the parents of two children. A son died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Shofstall, died in 1942. He is survived by two brothers - Otto of Rush Hill, Missouri and Jules, of Hoxie Kansas, and two sisters Eva, of St. Louis, and Mrs. Mary Kunkel of Mexico, Missouri with whom he had lived the last four years.

The newspaper obituary lists his parents as Peter and Marty (the 1880 census lists them as Peter, 45, farmer, and Mary, 43). Peter and Mary have 7 children at this time including Phillip who is 5). Peter, b. 1835, Prussia & Mary, 1837, Switzerland.
