Violet C Sherk-Jones, age 95, of 316 Woodies Ln, Bremen, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 7:15 pm in the Bremen Health Care Center.

Violet was born in Joplin County, Missouri on May 28, 1911 to the late Charles & Hilda (Thompson) McGowen. A lifelong resident of Bremen, she was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Bremen.

She was preceded in death by her 1st, 2nd and 3rd husbands, Seward Rule, Paul W Sherk and Welton "Casey" Jones.

Violet was a Homemaker, accomplished artist, worked for many years in the health care field. She enjoyed painting, reading, gardening and fishing.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, James Rule; and 3 grandsons, Kevin Paul Stine, George Allen Sherk and Michael Paul Sherk.

Surviving are sons: Ronald (Sue) Sherk of Plymouth, IN; Lester D Sherk, Paul (Fern) Sherk and William (Dorothy) Sherk all of Bremen and daughters: Geneva Abbiehl of Mishawaka, Maxine (Owen) Balsley and Shirley Stine of Bremen.

Three brothers: Arnold McGowen, Wyatt; Norman McGowen of Bremen and Robert McGowen of Santa Claus, IN; her sister Verna Heckaman of Michigan; step-son James W Jones and step-daughter, Carole (Daniel) Spurgeon both of Michigan, all survive.

Violet has 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren surviving.

Services for Violet will be on Monday, June 5, 2006 at 11 am in the First Baptist Church in Bremen with visitation on Sunday, June 4, 2006 from 5-7 pm in the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, and 1 hour prior to services on Monday at the Church. Burial will be in the Bremen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the First Baptist Church of Bremen in Violet's Name.
