Jospeh Vincent Rachmacey, of Greeneville, passed Monday, May 7, 2012, at the age of 89.

Mr. Rachmacey, the son of the late Antoni and Stefania (Los) Rachmaciej, was born in Warren, Massachusetts. He served honorably in the United States Army in World War II in Asia, including China, India, and Burma. He earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech. He will be remembered by friends and colleagues as plant manager at Magnavox, later Phillips Magnavox, in Greeneville, TN. Joe enjoyed many hours playing golf and traveling the world with his beloved wife Gloria. He was an avid Georgia Tech fan and a lifelong photography enthusiast. Mr. Rachmacey served on the board of the Greeneville Country Club and was a member of the Greeneville Exchange Club. Joe was a godly man, serving in the ministries of St. James Episcopal Church of Greeneville for many years.

Mr. Rachmacey was predeceased by his wife of forty-two years, Gloria Bachman Rachmacey, and his stepson Philip B. Abercrombie. He was also predeceased by his four sisters, Mary Waskiewicz, Helen Borkovic, Sophie (Sally) Kamienski, and Phyllis Plezia. He is survived by his stepchildren and daughters-in-laws, Victoria Abercrombie Hays of Suwannee, GA, Paul Abercrombie (Mary Ann) of Lubbock, TX, Milton Abercrombie (Kelly) of Apple Valley, CA, and Suzanne Linn Abercrombie (Philip) of San Antonio, TX; and by several nieces and nephews. "Grandaddy Joe" is survived by Holly Hays Orlando of Wellington, FL, Heather Hays of North Salem, NY, Ashley Abercrombie of Tiburon, CA, Mariah Abercrombie of Richmond, VA, Hunter Hays of San Francisco, CA, Robert Abercrombie of Tiburon, CA, Austin Abercrombie of Las Vegas, NV, and Brian Abercrombie of Lubbock, TX; and by three great-grandchildren and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Joe is also survived by his friends, Jim and Sue Kenney, who provided kind and considerate care and support over many months.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 - 10:00 am Saturday in the McMillan Parish Hall of St. James Episcopal Church.

The funeral service will follow at 10:00 am Saturday at St. James Episcopal Church with the Rev. Carolyn W. Isley officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Phil Hamblett, Jim Kenney, Philip M. Bachman III, Stan Sablak, Paul Kamienski, Carl Jensen. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Borkovic and Phil Bachman.
