He was a Houston resident most of his life. He was a descendent of Abram Golding Compton, one of the original Houston settlers in 1838.
He married Viola "Lindy" Lindner On October 12. 1937 in Houston,TX.
He attended the University of Florida and Houston Law School, served in WWII in the Security Intelligence Corps. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry as Senior Warden. Judge Compton was a member of the Houston Bar Association and the Texas Bar Association, Sons of the Texas Republic, Sons of the Confederacy, The Houston Lodge No. 1189, AF & AM, Scottish Rites Bodies, 33rd Degree Mason, Arabia Temple Shrine and Royal Order of Jesters.
He died on April 10, 1983 in Houston, Harris Co. TX.
Preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mary Perl.
Survived by wife, daughter, son, two grandsons, and one sister. Funeral Services were held at Trinity Episcopal Church.
