Boise Woman Dies Of Gunshot Wound
Mrs. Blanche E. Day, 45, of 1612 Leadville street, took her own life with a self inflicted 12 gauge shotgun wound at her residence Monday afternoon, Ada County Coroner Clyde E. Summers reported.
The coroner said her husband, Lester E. Day, found Mrs. Day dead in the basement of their home when he returned home from work at 5 p.m. Monday. Summers said Mrs. Day had left a note which indicated she had been despondent and in ill health for some time.
Mrs. Day was born Dec. 19, 1905, at Delamar, Idaho, and had lived in Boise for the past 25 years.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Richard A. Day of Seattle, and James L. Day, a patient in an Army hospital at Oakland, Cal., who was wounded in Korea; her mother, Mrs. Eva Evans, Homedale; three brothers, Walter and Thomas Evans, both of Homedale, and Fred of Stockton, Cal., and three sisters, Mrs. Martha Bahem and Mrs. Anna Vanderhoff, both of Homedale, and Mrs. Evelyn Hansen, Nyssa, Ore.
Summers chapel is arranging services.
