ASHLAND – Louie Calvin "L.C." Abbott, 80, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his residence. He was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Blytheville, Ark., to Tom and Lola Davis Abbott. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Ashland. He was retired from International Harvester in Memphis, where he worked for 33 years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with Bro. Tom Wilder officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Tutor Abbott; one daughter, Pamela Joyce Mathias (Tommy) of Memphis; one son, Lynn Abbott (Mary Jo) of Tupelo; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Mitzie Harris (Timothy) of Southaven and Lanora Hickman of Hernando; one stepson, Paul Covington (Christine) of Hernando; six sisters, Ruby Nichols, Lula Hardy, Agnes Hill, Jean Rogers, Ann Cagel and Helen Tubman; one brother, William Abbott.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Louie Dewayne Abbott; and two brothers, Dewey Abbott and Russell Boyd Abbott.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
