Rose Anna Abildtrup, the daughter of Henry Baker and Anna (Carroll) Oliver, was born in rural Leroy Township east of Audubon, Iowa on June 13, 1916, and died April 7, 2009, at the Friendship Home in Audubon at the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 24 days.

Rose joined older brothers and sisters, John, Claribel, George, and Catherine. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Audubon. She attended rural school in Leroy Township, and graduated from Audubon High School in 1935. Rose attended Normal School and then taught at a Leroy Township rural school for several years.

On September 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to Arnold Abildtrup. They operated a grain and livestock farm. They farmed in Douglas Township until they moved into Audubon in 1991. Two sons: Michael and David were born to this union. Arnold died February 19, 1992.

Rose was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Audubon, was a member of the Catholic Women and enjoyed quilting and being involved in the other activities of the church.

Rose's kitchen was her favorite room. It was there that she spent countless hours baking and cooking for her family and friends.

Rose also went through miles of thread and yards of cloth as she sewed and quilted for those she loved.

Her mission in life was to care for others and bring joy to their lives.

Rose moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon in September of 2008.

Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her parents and her brothers and sisters: John and wife Deveda Oliver, Claribel Oliver, George and wife Mabel Oliver and Catherine and husband Les Porter.

Survivors include her sons and their wives: Michael and Linda Abildtrup of Ft. Dodge, IA and David and Barbara Abildtrup of Creston, IA; her grandchildren: Sara and husband Bill Bolinger of Creston; Stacey and husband Scott Johnson of Des Moines, IA; Scott and wife Niki Abildtrup of Creston; Patrick Abildtrup of Des Moines; Brad and wife Jennifer Abildtrup of Creston; her great-grandchildren: Anna Johnson of Des Moines; Ryli, Kaci, Halli Abildtrup and Daeton and Cash Abildtrup, all of Creston; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were conducted by Father Wayne Gubbels at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Audubon.
