Loren Delbert Abbott, son of Edwin and Leola (Nancarol) Abbott, was born September 26, 1917 in Ethan, SD. He grew up and received his education in Ethan, graduating from Ethan High School.
Loren was united in marriage with DeVonna Konze on May 19, 1936 in Ethan, SD. Loren was employed with WPA and later for the CCCs . The couple moved to Sioux Falls where Loren was employed at Nabisco and later as a fireman at the Sioux Falls Airport during World War II. In 1943 the couple moved to Mitchell, SD where Loren began his career with the Milwaukee Railroad. He was employed as a brakeman/conductor with the Milwaukee Railroad for 30 plus years. He retired in 1976.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Good Sam Club, where Loren served as Wagon Master. Loren was a former member of the Elks and Moose Lodge. He was active at the Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed wood working and fishing.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, John (Betty) Abbott, Bandon, OR, Richard (Pamela) Abbott, Phoenix, AZ, Jeanette (George) Woltoff, Bandera, TX, Mercedes Abbott, Seattle, WA; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, DeVonna on December 22, 2007; his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
