Ruth was born Aug. 21, 1915, in Mahomet, a daughter of Susan Pinkston Abbott and Ira Carl Abbott.
She attended Illinois State Normal in Bloomington and taught school in the Mahomet area.
In 1938, Ruth married Donald G. Miller, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter (Carol Sue Schiller) and a son (Donald G. Miller Jr.), three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Her farming life heritage, inner strength and positive outlook on life will always be an inspiration. Her usual parting words "bye, bye love" will long be remembered.
Ruth was a proud member of DAR and PEO. She and Don Sr. were loyal supporters of the University of Illinois.
